Excellent article thank you, having been a health nut most of my life.. I've kept my vitamin C levels high for a good 50 years.. I spend a lot of time outside at altitude.. Living at 7000 feet and working 5 to 6 months a year at 10,000 feet as a Ranger in Yosemite NP the last 18 years.. we know the sun up here plays hardball.. it can burn you with only 20 minutes exposure without protection.. Very thankful so far no skin cancer.. a couple of small pre-cancerous lesions removed in the last 20 years..

I have taken two different types of vitamin C for the last three years, Trace - Power Pak 1200 mg Vit C + 19 other Vit and Trace minerals from the Great Salt lake. In addition, I take Dr. Mercola's vitamin C-PAC 500 mg Vit C plus Zinc, D3, and lipid metabolites... About 300 mg of sodium to facilitate hydration...

Pour them into the same glass about 16 oz of water, together they taste delicious., If I have a day of rigorous outside activities, like rock climbing or backcountry skiing I will double that ... Seems to work pretty well for this grandpa..

Many say you should add an equal amount of lysine to the C, so I take Sufficient C, sufficientC.com as well as regular vitamin C! For my zinc I eat beef mixed with liver and heart. D3 comes from walking in the sunshine!

I take astaxanthin, a carotenoid that is great for the skin, heart, brain and eyes. Been taking it for 18 years and my vision is better than when I was a lot younger, no need for horrible sunscreen when I just walk in the sun. It filters out the UV rays but lets the D3 from the sun in. Living in FL, I don't have to wait for spring and summer but walk most days at least one 30 minute walk/day.

Today’s article seems to say exposure to sun ought to be limited. Your previous articles seem to say an increase in ATP is even possible in humans with exposure to sunlight. Am I in error to think sunlight in reasonable exposures, especially early morning for eyes and lunchtime for skin to manufacture vitamin D overall beneficial for our body processes?

A quoted portion of your linked article:

Also, what are the implications for the increasing ambivalence within public awareness concerning sunlight exposure, where on the one hand it is viewed as a vital, if not life-saving source of vitamin D, while on the other hand a vector of lethality in skin cancer causation, against which especially pigment deficient races slather on various petrochemical preparations to defend themselves against? What if sunlight (as was evidenced in the roundworm model) is toxic when no chlorophyll is present in our diet and tissues, but promotes both increased ATP and longevity when found there in optimal doses? These are just a few of the questions that are now on the table, following these recent discoveries. “( from the article linked in todays article)

Vitamin C is such a basic nutrient / supplement that brand isn't a terribly important factor.

At age 24 I was diagnosed with cancer. Pretty quickly I got fed up with the MDs and their toxic drugs making me even sicker. Stopped the drugs, changed my diet and started taking supplements (including 500 mg of vitamin C). Boom! Immediately healthy.

For the next 25 years I continued with basically 500 mg a day of vitamin C. Then twenty years ago I started serious research and training and increased to 3,000 to 4,000 mg per day. It's a low cost, extremely safe way to improve your health!

Is this article in reference to being in conjunction with cancer treatment only? You mentioned synthetic hormones which is not usually a good idea for most but Bioidentical Hormone Replacement is the optimal therapy. I hope you are not referring to not doing hormone therapy because Vit C will balance all your hormones.
