There is a reason my husband calls my garden my “Happy Spot”. Surrounded by blooms, and leaves and the myriad of insects and birds who inhabit my garden, I am the happiest. I’m a student of “belly botany”, the art of laying in your belly in the grass and enjoying the tiny world that few of us bother to notice. Appreciating Beauty is the thing that makes us uniquely human. No AI, no robot, no insane person, can stop and “smell the roses”.

Your essay was a work of art. You may be a scientist, but you have the soul of a poet! And now, maybe the soul of a gardener!

Judy, how fortunate you are for having your "Happy Spot"! Before you know it you'll be back practicing the art of "belly buttoning". I just reposted your last paragraph, acknowledging you of course, as I couldn't have said it any better! Sayer keeps excelling himself. Thank you!

I so agree with the indescribable and soul food of flowers. Only one of God's many gifts to calm the mind, refresh the soul, appreciate their beauty & the love of their Maker.

Thank you. This was so beautifully written, and landed today in exactly the right way, at exactly the right time, with exactly the right message. I needed this. Thank you.

Tears, tears, tears of recognition.......why did so many give the Buddhist Monks on the Peace Walk, FLOWERS, and why did they then give them to others.......and why did it bring forth tears in nearly everyone?

....FLOWERS, Presence, Mindfulness, Self Awareness, Innocence, Pure Being, Peace, Seeing and Being Seen, Remembrance of who we ALL ARE~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thank you from my Heart for this Vibrant Bouquet of Flowers this Morning!

I was a student of Alan Chadwick back in the seventies. Chadwick was a visionary master gardener. In his system flowers were a vital component. Fruit and vegetables for bodily sustenance, herbs for seasoning and medicine, flowers to feed the soul and spirit.

I never plant a garden without multitudes of flowers!

Here you have written the most Loving Valentine's Day poem to All That Is. I think I just heard the entire flora realm sigh and say, "Thank you."

I will add that, until a few years ago, I did not grasp your last point: that we must deeply love all that we are as individuals first before we can truly serve the world in our own individual brilliance.

That seems to be what you are doing here. Bravo! Namaste
