THE SECRET ARCHITECT: How Keir Starmer’s Chief of Staff Quietly Built the Censorship Machine That Targeted ZeroHedge, The Federalist, Breitbart — and Me
The Defunding Operation Was Never Grassroots — It Was a Political Black Op
A bombshell new investigation reveals that the multi-year, cross-Atlantic campaign to demonetize ZeroHedge, The Federalist, Breitbart, and a long roster of independent publishers was not the work of earnest “activists” concerned about misinformation.
It was a covert political weapon engineered inside Labour Together, the British political machine of Keir Starmer — and directed by his future Chief of Staff, Morgan McSweeney.
According to newly surfaced documents and testimonies, the operation known as Stop Funding Fake News (SFFN) was a front: an anonymous pressure network designed to intimidate advertisers, blacklist unapproved media, and quietly reshape political information flows ahead of elections.
SFFN was run out of the very same South London office suite occupied by Labour Together. It was resourced by unreported political financing — including donors active in pro-Israel advocacy — and its stated mission (“stop hate, protect democracy”) served as cover for a far more strategic objective:
Destabilize political opponents
Curtail independent media ecosystems
And consolidate the power of a new political faction.
After crippling several left-wing Corbyn-era outlets in the UK, the operation expanded into the United States — just in time for the 2020 election.
ZeroHedge was demonetized. Breitbart was blacklisted by Parliament and the UK Cabinet Office. The Federalist was threatened by NBC and Google’s ad infrastructure.
The tactic was always the same: pressure advertisers, weaponize blocklists, frame targets as “extremists,” and rely on the press to amplify the narrative.
This was the original prototype of something much larger. Because SFFN did not remain SFFN.
Its next incarnation was the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) — the organization that would later target me, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and many others in the now-infamous “Disinformation Dozen.”
THE ARCHITECT: Morgan McSweeney and the Birth of a Transatlantic Censorship Machine
The newly confirmed involvement of Morgan McSweeney is not a minor detail — it is the key to understanding the entire censorship architecture that unfolded from 2018 to 2024.
McSweeney, Starmer’s strategist and now one of the most powerful unelected figures in the Labour Party, founded CCDH in 2018 and served as its sole director in its early phase.
CCDH was not born as a civil-society organization. It was the continuation of a political operation.
McSweeney and his partner Imran Ahmed simply replaced the SFFN mask (“anonymous activists”) with a new one (“anti-hate watchdog”). Behind the rebrand:
the funding streams overlapped
the personnel overlapped
the strategy overlapped
and the targets expanded from UK political factions to American civil society.
This continuity — and the machinery it enabled — is documented in depth in my investigative exposé, “Morgan McSweeney: The British Political Operative Behind ‘Digital Hate’ Group CCDH & America’s ‘Disinformation’ Wars”, which traces how McSweeney’s network bridged partisan politics, intelligence-adjacent NGOs, and transatlantic narrative warfare.
U.S. government agencies, political operatives, and major media outlets soon picked up CCDH’s talking points. By 2021, the small British outfit was shaping White House messaging, with officials citing CCDH’s statistics to justify pressure campaigns against Facebook, Twitter, and the individuals on CCDH’s lists.
But the machinery did not stop at narrative warfare. It escalated.
THE WEAPONIZATION PHASE: From Disinformation Lists to Psyops, Lawfare, and Foreign State Coordination
When CCDH released its Disinformation Dozen report in March 2021 — claiming that twelve individuals generated “65% of anti-vaccine misinformation” — it triggered one of the most aggressive censorship cascades in U.S. history.
Facebook later revealed the data was exaggerated by a factor of at least 1,300.
But it didn’t matter. The government and press had their headline. CCDH had its victory. Lives and reputations were shattered on false premises.
What few people understood at the time was that CCDH was no longer acting alone.
A larger influence network had grown around it — one involving:
the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD), a think tank chaired by intelligence and military elites, including former MI6 and SAS leadership
NATO-aligned psyops specialists such as Dr. Charles Kriel, who treated domestic dissent as “enemy communication” and depicted health advocates as radicalized threats
the BBC/Newsguard/ISD joint report that falsely linked GreenMedInfo to extremist networks
and even foreign government coordination, including Israeli state-linked messaging operations revealed in leaked emails.
The censorship-industrial complex was not simply a patchwork of NGOs.
It was — and is — a coordinated narrative warfare coalition.
And like all coalitions, it needed test targets.
HOW THE MACHINE CAME FOR ME: A Case Study in Coordinated Suppression
When CCDH shifted from policing neo-Nazis to attacking natural health advocates, medical freedom organizations, and parental rights activists, my work became a direct target.
The pattern of attack followed the precise SFFN → CCDH methodology revealed by ZeroHedge:
1. Misclassification and Smear
ISD, in collaboration with the BBC and Newsguard, published a report absurdly labeling my research platform, GreenMedInfo, as relevant to “far-right exploitation of Covid-19 disinformation.”
2. Mass Media Amplification
CCDH’s “Disinformation Dozen” report placed me alongside political operatives and physicians with whom I share no ideological alignment.
3. Government Endorsement
White House officials publicly repeated the CCDH statistic despite its mathematical impossibility.
4. Psyops Deployment
NATO advisor Charles Kriel featured CCDH’s CEO in his documentary Dis/Informed, which portrayed vaccine-hesitant mothers and natural health advocates as radicalized extremists. The language mirrored battlefield doctrine.
5. Lawfare Threat
An attorney named Brian Rothschild announced a wrongful death lawsuit against the Disinformation Dozen. Though it never materialized, it achieved its goal: intimidation.
This was not civil society acting in good faith.
This was a highly coordinated, multinational operation designed to neutralize dissent using:
political ops
intelligence-grade psychological warfare
media weaponization
financial deprivation
legal intimidation.
And now, thanks to the new reporting, we know where the modern playbook began:
It began with Morgan McSweeney.
It began with SFFN.
It was always political, always covert, and always transatlantic.
THE LARGER IMPLICATION: A Foreign Political Machine Interfered in U.S. Information Ecology
The ZeroHedge revelations change the stakes.
This was not merely “online activism” or “fact-checking.”
It was the export of a British political operation into the American public square.
A foreign operative — McSweeney — built the mechanism.
A foreign NGO — CCDH — provided the veneer of legitimacy.
U.S. officials amplified its messaging.
Big Tech enforced its blacklists.
Intelligence-linked think tanks reinforced its moral framings.
Journalists laundered its talking points.
Lawyers executed its threats.
This raises fundamental questions:
How many American voices were suppressed at the direction of a foreign political network?
How did CCDH gain such extraordinary access to U.S. officials?
Why did the White House amplify mathematically impossible data from a British NGO?
What legal exposure exists for foreign interference in U.S. elections and public discourse?
The answers will matter not only for my own case, but for the future of the First Amendment in an era of transnational censorship alliances.
CONCLUSION: The Architecture Is Exposed — Now the Accountability Begins
For years, the operations of CCDH, ISD, and their affiliates were dismissed as isolated activism or nonprofit advocacy.
But the newly surfaced history shows this was false.
The censorship architecture was:
politically engineered
strategically deployed
internationally coordinated
funded through dark money
shielded by anonymity
borderless in its reach
and devastating in its impact.
It targeted ZeroHedge.
It targeted Breitbart.
It targeted The Federalist.
And eventually, it targeted me.
The revelation that Morgan McSweeney — the right hand of a sitting British Prime Minister — was the original architect of the defunding and deplatforming machine reframes the entire public debate.
This was not a culture war. This was narrative warfare.
And the first step toward reclaiming our informational sovereignty is to expose the truth of how this machinery was built, who controls it, and who it serves.
That work has now begun.
