It is ironic that Substack is being attacked. Maybe I'm just picky about what I'm subscribed to, but the writing on substack (even if I don't always agree with the author's conclusions) is generally two notches up over even the top newspapers. One of the substacks I read is Sensible Medicine as well as Vinay Prasad's substack. Generally these are opinion letters written by doctors who don't always agree with each other and sometimes post rebuttals to each other. It's refreshing to have a dialogue like that from people who have a years of experience in the fields they're writing about.
Also, I really appreciated your thoughtful response to the guy and putting him on notice that he may end up in a defamation lawsuit. Sometimes our side plays too nice.

By talk it over I mean in the comment sections. That is the hardest for Big Brother to shadowban. Authors that prevent or delete (reasonable) or manipulate comments are suspect imo.
By disconnect from the train I mean move to an open source alternative, run with some rules like procedures, code of conduct etc. What it should be based on, fediverse etc. idk, probably several different. Get the techbros out of it. No doubt Substack the organization fears this.
