In 1961, my son 4-1.2 year old son was sent home from kindergarten, because he was hyperactive. I was told to take him to a doctor for treatment. Being an ignorant young mother, I took him to a doctor who put him on tranquilizers. Fate stepped in and my brother-in-law handed me some books on health and nutrition. He said, "Barbara, start reading. You are listening to the wrong people." I silently scoffed and thought, "What do you know! You aren't a doctor!" However, I opened the first book and my eyes spotted two things. I connected the dots immediately.. SUGAR creates HYPERACTIVITY and TRANQUILIZERS stunt the DEVELOPING ORGANS of children. I was floored, when I read this; and took my son off of the tranquilizers and immediately eliminated all the foods the doctor had recommended, which contained sugar. His food recommendations from the beginning with the rotten formula ( corn syrup and canned evaporated milk) had harmed my child. He screamed for his first three months. He was starved of nutrients. The information in those books got me into the study of health and nutrition 64 years ago. I would not be alive and healthy at 91, if I had not opened those books my good friend handed me.

Well, this article covers at least 2/3rd's of the situation - what is missing for me:

1.) Using drugs for metabolic maintenance, rather than just an emergency situation is wrong. Period.

2.) When my son was refusing to do his schoolwork at 8 yrs. old, he tore his paper & broke his pencil in half in front of the class, and they sent him home: I took him to 5 specialists, including Shand's 'best of the best' Medical Doctor's & Psych Dept's...they tried to tell me that he had "ODD," Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and offered to give me $400/mo (yrs ago, so I am sure it's more now, and hopefully will be stopped by this shutdown!) for his 'disability' to agree to put him on their medication program...I refused, not only because I didn't need the money, but because it was specific to one environment, his school, and I also had 3 PhD's tell me that he was just 'bored to tears' and that allowing the label, putting him in an exceptional learning program, not only gave the school more money (incentive,) but also allowed recruiting of him into the juvenile delinquent process they promoted in there...wow!

3.) I found a good psychologist, whom recommended dietary changes, natural supplements, and counseling, and ended up homeschooling him while working full time (inconvenient, but we all make sacrifices for what we really want or care for) - he finished high school & standardized tests at 12 yrs old, and now holds a Double Major & is fluent in 6 languages...

Moral of the Story: This whole ADHD/ODD, and drugging of children is another racket, aimed at crippling our most gifted children, and stifling our future - please share these facts with people so that they can protect their children from this horrible exploitation of our children & their future!
