I had Alzheimer’s for 6 years. Both my parents had it. I started taking niacin and it cured me…which most people will not believe because “if something doesn’t exist, you can’t see it.” It’s a vitamin…just try it. 500mg 3X per day. Mercola wrote an article about the Alzheimer’s cure. Wonder why medical establishment is not talking about this? I spent thousands with doctors trying to help me but their methods were not effective.

Sayer Ji's avatar

Wow! Great share. Niacin helps to stimulate NADH+ which profoundly enhances mitochondrial energy production in the brain, and body wide. That could be one of the reasons it works!

My husband suffered a TBI with severe brain bleed and subsequent craniotomy 17 years ago and his pain was uncontrollable. Unfortunately it took 4+ months to get into a neurologist and in that time he was using opioids. His neurologist suggested a regimen of CoQ10, Riboflavin and Niacin and it helped tremendously. I have since mentioned this to people with chronic migraines and the ones who are not stuck in allopathic Rx cycles have told me it helped. Perhaps due to this increase in mitochondrial energy production?

Alamo Dude's avatar

Almost Everyone is niacin deficient just like Vit D3 deficient due to modern life styles. The electronic spin of natural niacin is different than synthetic niacinamide. Which can be demonstrated by taking niacin and getting the “niacin flush”. Niacin with NattoKinaise will probably help flush spike peptides from CoViD, etc. from the body. And irradiating in early morning orange/red sunlight your niacin flush capillaries will help sanitize your blood.

Interesting perspective, thank you. I do however wish to point out that covid is merely the flu rebranded. And covid could not have been spread by a virus because viruses have never been shown to be isolated, thus never discovered.

Cathy Vallecorsa's avatar

Would that be beneficial for peripheral neuropathy? It seems to me the sugar issue is as much a problem for peripheral neuropathy. Read Sugar Crush by dr. Richard Jacoby.

Love your name- Not Me. And I believe you regarding the niacin. I took it decades ago, will begin again. Also do coconut oil in coffee w Ceylon cinnamon. Blessings.

Not Me's avatar

Yes. I took coconut oil in coffee for years. I don’t know if it helped….guess I needed a placebo of me.

Not Me's avatar

I did not notice any improvement from the coconut oil but I used it anyway…hoping it would help.

Melanie Imbruglia's avatar

As I recall it was something like 4 tbls a day, in her book. I can’t get more than 1 in my coffee. May have been too little. She put in her husbands oatmeal.

Chi's avatar

Many like oatmeal w/butter. But even one Tblsp. in a bowl of oatmeal is a lot!

Butter is much lower in the right fatty acids, but has some. Butter has been about the “mouth-feel” for many.

So, sub coconut oil; or if liver is in a bad way (which most elders have) use C8 MCT oil, to lighten the work the liver & gallbladder have to do.

Also, might try using the oat germ fiber, instead of just oats—oats is high starch, which turns into sugar.

Subbing the oat germ, increases fiber, helping mitigate the starch.

&, add fresh-ground flax &/or chia seeds to boost fiber,

&/or apple pectin, to the oatmeal, to offset the starch.

& add the MCT oil;

& Ceylon cinnamon to help body handle the starch/sugar, & maybe try using molasses, since it contains the minerals & nutrients stripped from cane or beets.

It starts making a nutrient-dense “cookie in a bowl”:)

Not Me's avatar

I only used one Tablespoon a day. Perhaps I should have used more.

Not Me's avatar

Thank you for believing me. I’m sad to think so many can be cured but they don’t know about this. It’s a vitamin…not a drug so what’s the risk in that?

Arieh's avatar

True. Although not all “vitamins” / supplements are created equal. But I know I have had outstanding & wonderful successes using naturalpathic guidelines. The “Oldies” are the best: Adele Davis, Dr Bernard Jensen, Dr. Versendahl and CRA,

Dr. Johnathon Wright, Dr Bruce West, Dr Julien Whittaker, Dr Spencer Wooly (Bioenergetics) and a handful more. I also use Essential oils, Bach Flower Remedies and Desert Flower Essences… My Homeopathic Remedy Emergency Kit was well used and needs restocked.

Cheers!

Thought Mercola said 50mg three times daily?

Not Me's avatar

Oh! You are right…sorry for saying 500mg. Thank you for catching that.

I witnessed a profound recovery of vascular dementia with use of hyperbaric oxygen. My understanding is that HBOT results in angiogenesis. We can’t avoid the elephant in the room. Pharma slanders all competitors.

Chi's avatar

My DH had banked a bunch of HBOT sessions, & had gotten upwards of 65 hrs, when the counterfeit shutdown happened. That shuttered a number of HBOT rental places. He couldn’t access more hyperbarics, cuz the closest VA he might have accessed, was more than 1 hr drive thru bad traffic to get to/from. We lost the banked hours.

I wonder how many others experienced same?

PharmaChem doesn’t only slander natural & alternatives. It has a very long, over 100 yr history of actively sabotaging anything it deems as “competition”. That is a hugely diverse variety of all kinds of covert tactics. From manipulating FDA rules & getting laws passed by govt.; State “noxious weed” lists & actions; authors writing books on herbs having to label medicinals as “toxic” & blocked from giving explicit directions; to literal scorched earth; utterly faked researches, & far more.

If public truly understood the vast extent PharmaChem has & still is going to, to manipulate everything in their favor, while working at counterfeiting “treatments” but which end up slow depopulation—folks would be out in the billions, waving proverbial pitchforks.

The collateral damages are pervasive.

pimaCanyon's avatar

amazing! Now that you are cured, are you still taking it at that dose level?

Also, were you taking niacin or niacinamide? Reason I ask is that niacin causes flushing for most people and at that dose level it would be intense.

Not Me's avatar

I continue to take niacinamide which is also labeled B3. I have no plans to stop because I don’t think this dose (50mg 3x per day) is too much. I think I may slip back into Alzheimer’s if I stop taking it…but I don’t know for sure.

Chi's avatar

I think, based on my experiences, it’s likely necessary to keep helping the body choose ketones as fuel, B vits, etc.

Once you figure out what things work for you, keep doing it. It’s sleuthing, & can be frustrating, but once it’s figured out, that’s worth doing. In my experience, finding an AHA! substance or diet that does a dramatic improvement, mostly only keeps doing it as long as you keep doing it. The negative regressions are NOT worth risking by returning to diet that causes the problems.

In general, it’s using nutrient-dense but less volume of foods; higher fibers (soluble & insoluble); lotsa green veggies, & some specific supplements to target signs of ills.

Organic fresh, home-prepared foods ARE medicine.

Something to be careful of, for kidney function: stop eating the greens & roots that are high in oxalates/oxalic acid (spinach, beets,…), & choose more cruciferous (cabbage, kale, broccoli…); & bright color fruits. Check out what’s safe to eat if kidney function is diminished. Most elders have diminished kidney function (lab test: GFR)

I personally have taken Niacin at higher levels. my experience is that the flushing goes away. I would take 50mg until the flush went away then up the dosage, again waiting until flushing shops before any increase. It is annoying, tingling like sunburn, great on winter days! but it does pass in my experience.

pimaCanyon's avatar

thanks! I have tried Niacin, but did not continue long enough for the flushing to go away. Are you still taking it? If so, at what dosage level and how many times per day? Are there any concerns that you know of about long term negative effects, like liver damage, for example?

Debbity's avatar

Are you taking niacin or niacinamide?

Not Me's avatar

Yes. 50 mg 3X per day

Not Me's avatar

This is what cured me

Douglas's avatar

Hi, just to clarify, you took Niacin and not Niacinamide, correct?

Not Me's avatar

I don’t know the difference but I took B3 which is also called Niacinamide.

pimaCanyon's avatar

if you were taking niacin, you would experience flushing of the skin. So it sounds like you're taking niacinamide.

Danielle White's avatar

Not everyone experiences flushing.

Cathy Vallecorsa's avatar

Were you ever on statin drugs?

Not Me's avatar

Yes…for the last year, because I had a TIA (mini stroke..no permanent damage).

Cathy Vallecorsa's avatar

You need cholesterol for your brain. Search on YouTube Dr Jack Wolfson statin drugs. It’s an eye opener.

Frances's avatar

Also check the work of Dr Malcolm Kendrick in the UK.

Xmen442002's avatar

Great books on the cholesterol scam and statins!

Xmen442002's avatar

But it has to be Niacin with the flush which takes some getting used to.

Cindy's avatar

Awesome to hear this! Did you have a positive blood ptau 217 test? How was your Alzheimer diagnosis confirmed?

Not Me's avatar

Bloodwork through Alzheimer’s association confirmed I got the gene from mom and Dad.

Xmen442002's avatar

You have two copies of the APOE 4 gene?

Cindy's avatar

The gene doesn’t determine if you have ALZ. A positive p tau does

Lisalee Glassic's avatar

Has it raised your blood sugar?

pimaCanyon's avatar

does niacin or niacinamide raise blood sugar?

Big E's avatar

We use coconut oil in our salads (as a yummy salad dressing base) and on our skin as a moisturizer and deodorant. It’s great stuff!

We don’t have Alzheimer’s (yet, knock wood), but hope the “side effects” of using it for the purposes above will keep A-D away.

I read about her and her husband and started putting organic coconut oil in my mother's smoothie. She was in a rest home with vascular dementia and had deteriorated to virtually a vegetable. She said her first word in weeks within 3 days! A few weeks later an entire sentence! And a few months she was babbling away asking the staff questions!!! 😀 They asked what I had done! It was ASTOUNDING. We had a lock down and I couldn't get in to see her for weeks yet when I did she had only regressed to confused sundowners, not able to finish sentences... but a few days of smoothie and she was back to making full sentences😊 So I think maybe it's not just the ketones in coconut oil as she was starved of that fuel for weeks....

After about 8 months (?) she made another leap in cognition! She was able to respond to me... Like ya do in a conversation! Then we had another lock down and I wasn't able to get her back to that stage so who knows how much better she would have become....

I used about a heaped tablespoon and I would put avocado in there to bind the coconut oil otherwise it would form a gloopy mess floating on top.

Alamo Dude's avatar

MCT oil from coconuts in morning coffee or tea helps brain wiring and retiring from damages. Green coffee extract and sulphuraphane extract from broccoli help rewiring brain circuitry. So lighter roasts coffees are better. And the extracts are available cost effectively to add to soups and stews also.

The most interesting medical conversations often begin with someone refusing to accept that there’s nothing left to explore

Chi's avatar

That’s when the commercial providers don’t know what to do about you! :))

But there have been signs—some good, some bad, for many decades.

If you’re lucky, your providers listen, hear you, & work with you, to properly diagnose, so you can make better, informed choices of what you choose to do—be it taking their treatments all or part, or, researching, learning, & using natural methods.

PharmaChem/providers are still pretty entrenched in only doing vindictive retribution tricks at folks who choose natural methods. PharmaChem gives most of the Continuing Ed seminars for docs & nurses—those have been ongoing brainwashing venues, way too often—but put-on w/very attractive perks—what professional doesn’t love the fancy venues & gifts they hand out?

But a few more start coming around to pay close attention to what natural things some patients are succeeding with.

Danielle White's avatar

They know what to do. They kick you out of their practices and out of the hospital.

Alice's avatar

For the coconut oil to help, Does the diet need to change, by reducing sugar and carbs? I know that would be best, but my mother is 108 and just started with memory problems the last 3 years. I could add the coconut oil but there is no way she will give up her sugar in coffee and on her cereal. She does not have any problem with diabetes or prediabetes. Her body is definitely fueled by glucose now as she eats very little/ if any fat.

Chi's avatar

Yes, reduce sugars, carbs, starches. Stop fake sugars.

Do choose local raw honey, molasses, grade B maple syrup, stevia & monk fruit.

The MCT /coconut oil is trying to get the brain to choose to burn ketones as fuel, instead of sugars. One can get bet-hydroxybutyrate supplement capsules, to boost ketones & gut health too.

Refined sugar is bad, because it’s lost all the cofactors & minerals that grew in the plants to help the body use the sugars in the plant. (Same like refined salt—use sea salts instead!)

Fake sugars like aspartame, sucralose—are toxic—sugar molecules linked together by molecules of (toxic) wood alcohol & chlorine, respectively. Other fake sugars are totally chemical junk, that cause harm, like acesulfame potassium.

Avoid MSG (monosodium Glutamate) is a flavor enhancer that has been refined out of plants, concentrated, & added by the tonnes into manufactured foods of all kinds—it is neuro-excitatory in bad ways, & jacks-up blood pressure, among other bad things.

Avoid being fooled by “agave” & coconut sugars—those are very high fructose—some higher than high fructose corn syrup. Those are harmful to the liver, & some come with chemicals residues.

Starchy foods like potatoes, rice, etc, turn to sugar fast. That can be turned into “resistant starch” (body cannot absorb much of it), by cooking the starchy foods, then refrigerate them 8 hrs & reheating. That requires planning many don’t want to do. But it basically cuts the starch load about in half or better, depending if the process is repeated twice to maximize turning it into resistant starches.

If she has the dry cough elders get—Sayer gave a raw honey + instant coffee remedy. Mix about a heaping Tblsp honey + about a rounded tsp. instant coffee. Take about 1/2 heaping tsp. 1st thing in morning on empty stomach. Can repeats that about every 8 hrs as needed. It has much reduced my cough. I chose low acid coffee like Kava, or a green coffee (not roasted, or light roasted) to get the benefits of that.

Seems like at 108 she can have memory issues, and def keep her sugar. Just add some coconut oil throughout her day and see. It would be good in coffee w the sugar!

Use Anthony's organic coconut sugar. It's pollen from the flower. I buy from Amazon. It's fantastic. Natural light brown color. Not bleached.

Melanie Imbruglia's avatar

I came across her book years ago. As Alzheimer’s tends to run in my family, I started on it. And I also give to my son ( with autism. ). And notice how, as more people talk about it, organic mct oil gets harder to find on shelves.

I just got over severe bacterial pneumonia in late April. It started mid March. The drs said it was bacterial but not sure how they confirmed that or if they even did. Both of my lungs collapsed and the pain was insane, I had to go to the hospital for a CT scan and many tests. I do wonder if it could be from our house hvac. We know it has aspergillus, stachy and chaetomium molds blowing through the entire house. I have been mold sick for years and have lots of pain in my body. I go for a second CT scan next week. Can you tell me how you confirmed it was fungal pneumonia? I was never sick with any cough or sinus issues, just a high fever and feeling like I was being stabbed by a knife in my right chest area. I’ve seen multiple drs and the pulmonologist mentioned it could’ve been fungal but didn’t say how we could confirm that. He looked over my mycotoxin test and our house tests.

Diane's avatar

Bacterial? Fungal? Better to move, or have the mold issue professionally resolved, than to keep exposing yourself to the problem.

Jleah7's avatar

Yes I know this, it’s my husband that doesn’t. He doesn’t believe mold impacts your health, even after seeing the molds we have in our home on numerous tests.

Diane's avatar

That is a difficult situation. So sorry. Have you considered a regimen of ivermectin, or looked into chloride dioxide (“MMS”)? Unfortunately, no therapy is permanent if the source is not addressed🙁.

MCT oil has become expensive. Of course, nearly everything is expensive. Thanks for posting the video! 👍❤️

Jleah7's avatar

Thrive market online

has a very affordable bottle of MCT oil. I use it every day in my coffee. I have chronic mold exposure and my cognitive function was severely affected and scaring me for being in my late 40’s. I’m 51 now. It’s definitely improved over the last several years and I’m still living in a moldy house. My dad was just diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at age 71 this year. I’m going to have him incorporate MCT oil into his coffee as well, if he’s not too stubborn about taking it.

Mark Wayne's avatar

Thanks! I will check out Thrive Market. Our HVAC air handler got black mold. I got a mold/fungal pneumonia from it. It was terrible. We used colloidal silver to kill/clean the mold and I used a nebulizer with colloidal silver to heal my pneumonia. We found that colloidal silver or colloidal copper kills blight and fungus on fruit trees and tomato plants. A product call Soil Saviors helps our garden, too.

Chi's avatar
Jun 1Edited

Does it work to stick copper wires into the ground to kill fungus? Or must it be made into the colloidal water to water them?

Have you tried watering affected plants using turmeric water?

Or leaf-feeding, using fish emulsion + kelp + various other nutrient food things to help plant health?

Mark Wayne's avatar

Copper sulfate powder can be dissolved in water and sprayed. A good soil test will show if the soil is deficient in minerals, metals, nutrients, etc. I have not tried any of the methods you asked. We bought a product called Soil Saviors recently and have sprayed it on the garden about 4 times. Read about Soil Saviors. We also use an effective microorganism formula called EM-1. According to the makers of Soil Saviors and Dane Wigington, the chemtrail toxins kill beneficial microbes and they cause bad fungus.

Mark Wayne's avatar

I am 71 years old. Your father can/will be cured. MCT oil in morning coffee is very healthful. 👍🙏❤️

Jleah7's avatar

I also added lions mane mushroom powder and I think that also helps me.

Mark Wayne's avatar

My wife adds a mushroom tincture to our coffee and I agree, it helps. A little collagen and pinch of cinnamon may help, too.

MCT is refined coconut oil and it only removes the taste of coconut.(and the lauric acid which is very important)

People really need the VCO and the full spectrum of long chain fatty acids that comes with it.

PutativePathogen's avatar

I, like many here, take coconut oil in my coffee. But I was surprised by the passing mention of fasting, which seems an obvious addition to the protocol.

Elle's avatar

Thank you! Another reason to move to the tropics!

Moro Balakrishnan's avatar

We have heard this unbelievable story of Dr. Newport with coconut oil. I have a few points that could be relevant.

1. If the MCTs of coconut oil work, those of Palm Kernel oil also should work. There is a reason I am raising this point. Even though coconut oil has a sweetish flavour, eating it raw in spoonfuls would put off many, the strong flavour. On the contrary, I have heard that Palm Kernel Oil has no such flavour, may be olive oil like and for raw consumption, it should be more acceptable. Has any work been done on the use of Palm Kernel oil ? Perhaps Dr. Mary Newport herself may know something. The MCT composition of the two oils are not identical and we must figure out if the small differences could actually be more beneficial with Palm Kernel oil.

2. Refined coconut oil is not common, but it should be possible to obtain and evaluate it. That should circumvent the taste/flavour problem with coconut oil, even virgin coconut oil. Worth investigating to understand if the specific phytonutrients of unrefined coconut oil are the active principles in this Alzemeirs application.

3. If oxidation of MCTs in liver for ketone feeds for the brain neurons can happen, why not the longer chain saturated fatty acids like palmitic and stearic present in many oils , including lard and palm oil itself ? Any possibility ? We have always been told that it is the poly unsaturated fatty acids like Linoleic that get oxidised easily and the oxidised products have been implicated in not just cardiac issues, but in other conditions also.,Including Alzheimer’s.

4. There was a mention about hydrogenated coconut oil in the write up here. Is it done ? With practically no traces of linoleic acid in coconut oil, where is the need and scope.

Moro Balakrishnan's avatar

I also feel that other coconut products should also be examined for their usefulness, making them part of the every day diet of patients - coconut sugar, tender coconut water, the flesh inside tender coconuts, even MCT rich special infant milk feeds etc. The milk from the last one can also be converted into yoghurt in home kitchens and become a regular part of the diet.
